Wilton Wildlife Preserve & ParkKarner Blue Butterfly on Blue Lupine

Our Alliance with the Preserve

Since 2004, Wild Birds Unlimited-Saratoga Springs has been a proud partner with Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park (WWP&P).

  • In 2007, we donated and installed an Advanced Pole System setup and feeder at the preserve's new office on Scout Road.
  • Each year since 2006, we have helped the preserve recognize their volunteers with store merchandise donations.
  • We maintain a donation box for WWP&P on our counter.  To date, we've given the preserve $227 on behalf of our generous WBU customers.
  • In 2006, we donated 50% of our profits from the sale of the Karner Blue Butterfly Endangered Species Chocolate Bar.
  • In 2007, we donated 100% of our profits from the sale of the book "Field Guide to the Karner Blue Butterfly".

The "Field Guide to the Karner Blue Butterfly" by local author Dave MacDougall is available for purchase at our store for $8.00.  We will continue to donate 100% of our profits from sale of this booklet to the Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park.

We look forward to continued partnership with Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park and encourage everyone to take advantage of and support this treasure in our backyard.  Take some time to get out in nature and walk or ski/snowshoe their trails!

WINTER BIRD FEEDING Presented by Lois Geshiwlm & Nancy Castillo
Monday November 9; 7:00p
WWPP Office, 80 Scout Road (map)

Late fall is when birds in our area establish winter feeding territories. Be sure your house is on the birds’ winter feeding map.

Join Lois and Nancy for a presentation on the joys of bird feeding in winter. The indoor program will include information on preferred foods and other sources of energy for various bird species, bird feeders and their placement and maintenance, and how to attract birds more often and for longer periods. In their six years of owning the store, Nancy and Lois have developed successful strategies and helpful tips for winter feeding. They will share them at this program.

Free and open to the public
